New UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jamahal Hill’s Next Opponent

The Ultimate Fighting Championship Light Heavyweight division has heated up. The 31-year-old American fighter Jamahal Hill beat the former champion Glover Teixeira after an impressive performance in UFC 283 and clinched the title. What’s next in the UFC Light Heavyweight division? Who will be the new champion Jamahal Hill’s next opponent?

In UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro, last Saturday, Jamahal Hill took on hometown hero, and former light heavyweight belt holder, Glover Teixeira. The two collided for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight title. “Sweet Dreams” beat the Brazilian by a unanimous decision to clinch the 205-pound crown.

Before all that, in UFC 275 in June 2022, Jiri Prochazka beat Glover Teixeira by a 5th-round submission to claim the light heavyweight belt. 

However, in December before UFC 282, “The Czech Samurai” injured his shoulder and quickly agreed to vacate his title.

A fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz to crown a new champion was held at UFC 282, but the fight ended in a draw, resulting in UFC president Dana White immediately announcing that Teixeira and Hill would then fight for the vacant belt.

Jamahal Hill’s Next Opponent?

The 31-year-old MMA star Jamahal Hill beat Glover Teixeira in UFC 283 to clinch the Light Heavyweight belt. Now, who will be the next opponent of “Sweet Dreams”?

Yes, you can sense in the air that Jiri Prochazka is vying for a return to reclaim his belt.

“The Czech Samurai” vacated his title just before UFC 282 in December due to his shoulder injury. The 30-year-old is eyeing a summer return.

Jiri Prochazka sends an intense message to the new champion Jamahal Hill immediately after the event. “Congratulations – I’m coming. I’m coming!” Prochazka screamed.

Jiri Prochazka is currently on a 13-fight winning streak, with 12 of those coming from stoppage. He boasts a 29-3-1 MMA record, and a terrifying 25 KOs.

On the other hand, Jamahal Hill has been calling for a fight with Prochazka for a few years now. It seems that the delicious battle is not far away.

The early odds are set as well. The Betonline_ag has listed Hill as a -125 favorite. 

Jamahal is on a 12-1 MMA record with 1 no-contest and 7 KOs.
