The UFC will hold a special event on the grounds of the White House on June 14. Dana White shared new details about attendance, ticket plans, and weather preparation.
Seats and who will attend
The event is billed as UFC: White House, also called “Freedom Fights 250.” It will take place on June 14 on the White House lawn. Dana White said the makeshift arena will seat 4,300 people. Most of those seats will go to members of the military. White said there will be more than 4,000 military in attendance. The remaining seats are for President Trump, members of his administration, and other VIPs.
Free public viewing at the Ellipse
For fans who cannot get inside, organizers will offer a large free viewing area at the Ellipse, the park across the street from the White House. White said about 85,000 free tickets will be given away for fans to watch the event live on giant screens. There will also be stages, music, and other fan activities. Registration will be required for the free tickets.
Weather plans and timing
Because this is an outdoor event, the UFC is planning for weather issues. Dana White said they are using advanced weather prediction tools and working with the military. The military will monitor conditions and report frequently: every two hours starting 10 days out, and every hour starting seven days out. White said the only thing that would cancel or stop the event is lightning. If needed, organizers could move the event two hours earlier or later to avoid bad weather. White admitted he does not like outdoor shows, but said they have plans in place to handle most problems.
