Dominik Mysterio once drew some of the loudest boos in WWE. He was a perfect heel with a clear direction. Now he feels like just another roster member. WWE needs to decide soon how to use him before fans forget what made him special.
How Dominik became a top heel
When Dominik first arrived in WWE, he looked inexperienced and awkward. He struggled as a babyface with his father, Rey Mysterio. That changed when he turned on Rey and joined Judgment Day.
With a new look — a mullet and a mustache — and the attitude of a spoiled, cruel young star, Dominik became a true heel. He paired with Rhea Ripley and later with Liv Morgan. Fans hated him in a real way. The boos were so loud at times that people thought they might be piped in. They were not. Dominik earned that reaction.
Momentum lost and recent work
At the end of 2025, WWE gave Dominik a major moment by having him beat John Cena for the Intercontinental Championship. That win showed the company believed in him.
Injury then slowed his push. After he returned, his work did not have the same spark. He had a decent run with Penta and some Intercontinental title defense moments, but nothing matched his earlier heat. His WrestleMania 42 match with Finn Bálor felt like filler rather than a headline feud. The most notable part of that match for many fans was the return of Bálor’s Demon persona, not Dominik’s performance.
Dominik has also worked in AAA as the AAA Mega Champion. AAA benefits from having him, but WWE should not treat him like a talent to be showcased mainly on smaller shows. WWE has the biggest stage and should use his star power there.
Why WWE should push him now
Dominik is only 29 and already has a veteran feel. He can be a main-event level star if WWE gives him a clearer role. He can be a top heel again with one strong turn, or he could be turned into a babyface that fans cheer for. Either choice would work because the audience already reacts strongly to him.
Right now, Liv Morgan often draws more attention in their segments. That shows the character work around Dominik can still connect, but WWE is not using it right. He should not be a background player or a talent mainly shown on a little-seen YouTube program.
What needs to happen
UFCcoverage has highlighted that WWE once had a rare heel in Dominik. The company can reclaim that magic with a few simple moves: a clear direction on Raw, meaningful feuds, and a short, decisive character shift. Whether he turns on a partner or is pushed into a fresh rivalry, WWE must act now.
Dominik Mysterio is not just another name on the roster. He earned heat and attention. WWE should either push him to the main event or build him into an unforgettable face. Waiting will only waste what they already had.
