Thekla, now AEW Women’s World Champion, says she has no doubt the Women’s Blood & Guts match will come back in 2026. She spoke about the first-ever women’s Blood & Guts match and a memorable escape that helped her team win.
Thekla recalls the first Women’s Blood & Guts
Last November, 12 women took part in AEW’s first Women’s Blood & Guts match. Thekla was one of them and was on the winning side. She was part of the Triangle of Madness team with Skye Blue and Julia Hart. The match got a lot of attention for how hard the women fought and some dramatic moments inside the cage.
The famous escape and match moments
Thekla reminded fans of the famous moment when she used her small size to slip out of the Blood & Guts cage through a small hole. She said the move showed how smart she was: she escaped the violence, grabbed the cage key from a referee, and helped secure the win for her team.
Skye Blue also stood out in the match. She wrestled the entire time despite bleeding heavily, and her effort was talked about after the show. Julia Hart and Thekla were also central to the story of the match and to the team’s strategy.
Interview and what she said about 2026
In an interview, Thekla relived the match and joked about her escape. She said it was great to be part of a first-time event that showed how tough the women in AEW are. She added she wants to do it again and expects the match to return soon.
Speaking directly about a future Blood & Guts, Thekla said, “We’re doing it this year too. No doubt about it. I’ll be there, and I’ll bring a kendo stick in barbed wire.” Her tone was excited and confident about another big match.
What we know about a return
AEW has not announced any plans or dates for a Men’s or Women’s Blood & Guts match in 2026. The match had usually been held in June up until last year, but no official schedule has been released for future events.
