Wrestling veteran Bully Ray has spoken about the newly added match between Gunther and Seth Rollins for WrestleMania 42. Ray says the match makes sense, but the story around it needs more work before the big show.

On the “Busted Open” podcast, Bully Ray said he was not surprised to see Gunther vs. Seth Rollins added to the WrestleMania 42 card. He praised the in-ring potential of the pairing while urging WWE to build a clearer story around the match.
Ray said, “I don’t think I’m surprised. I don’t think it’s about the connecting of the dots on the front end of this match. For this story, I think it’s about the connecting of the dots that’s going to happen during and after the story. This was thrown together, or at least it looks like it’s thrown together. Hopefully we’re going to get the reasons why it’s going to happen, and I think we will. If there’s one thing I know for sure, when it comes to a professional wrestling match, Gunther vs. Seth is going to be a damn great match.”
What happened on Raw
The match was set up after an attack on WWE Raw. Gunther assaulted Seth Rollins when Rollins was poised to attack Paul Heyman. After the attack, Gunther grabbed Rollins and pointed to the WrestleMania 42 sign, signaling he wanted a match at the event.
Ray questioned the logic of that moment, saying it did not fully make sense for Gunther to come out and attack Rollins at that specific moment. He believes WWE will fill in the backstory in the coming weeks, explaining why the confrontation happened.
Possible future matches
Beyond WrestleMania, Bully Ray suggested this match could lead to a larger storyline. He said he sees the potential for Gunther to face Brock Lesnar down the line, a matchup many fans have wanted to see.
Ray added, “The story is this — we can’t leave Seth and Gunther off of WrestleMania. So somehow we have to find a way to get these guys on the same page. Last night technically does not make sense. Why would Gunther come out and attack Seth? It’s what’s going to happen next week and the week after that. I believe Seth and Gunther is eventually going to lead to Gunther and Brock.”
