Dana White says the UFC’s outdoor show at the White House will go ahead on June 14 no matter the weather — with one exception. He warned that only lightning could force a pause.
White says the show will go on
White told streamer Adin Ross that the UFC: White House event on June 14 will not be canceled for rain or snow. He was clear that poor weather will not stop the fights. “If it snows, we’re fighting,” White said. He added that rain, wind or bugs are things the promotion will handle.
He made one important caveat. Lightning would be the only weather problem that might force a delay. White said the promotion would have to wait out any lightning before continuing. Other conditions, he said, will not stop the event from taking place that night.
Why White usually avoids outdoor shows
White has long avoided open-air events because weather can cause trouble. He listed several reasons for that caution: heavy rain, strong winds, muggy heat and bugs. These issues make outdoor shows harder to run and harder on fighters and fans.
Still, White said the company will accept those risks for this special event. He emphasized the plan is to proceed even if conditions are far from perfect, except for dangerous lightning.
Early setup at the White House
The UFC will begin its setup at the White House a full month before the event. White said the crew will start loading into the site in May and move in over a month ahead of the June 14 show. That is much earlier than the usual move-in of a few days before an event.
Moving in early will give teams more time to build a temporary venue and handle any outdoor challenges. White framed the effort as a large logistical operation that needs extra lead time because this is a unique outdoor location.
Fans will see a preview this weekend
Fans will get an early look at the south lawn layout during this weekend’s UFC 327 broadcast on Paramount. White said the show will include a short segment that shows what the south lawn setup will look like ahead of the June 14 event.
The White House show remains a rare outdoor experiment for the UFC. With the company planning to start work in May and a preview airing before the event, White is trying to reassure fans that the promotion is ready — and that only lightning could change the plan.
