Legendary wrestler Sycho Sid will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2026. AEW commentator and Hall of Famer Jim Ross says the honor came too late and that politics played a role in the delay.
Jim Ross Speaks Out
Jim Ross talked about Sid’s Hall of Fame induction on his “Grilling JR” podcast. Ross, who is an AEW commentator and a Hall of Famer himself, said the wait was mostly about politics. He called it “a damn shame” that Sid is no longer alive to enjoy the recognition.
Ross said Sid grew and matured over time and that there was no doubt in his mind that Sid deserved the Hall of Fame. He thought the decision was slowed by backstage politics and timing, not by Sid’s record or impact on the business.
Sid’s Career and Legacy
Sycho Sid, also known as Sid Eudy and Sid Vicious, was a two-time WWE World Champion. He made a big impact in WWE and also had a brief run in WCW. Many fans remember him for his size, presence, and memorable title runs.
Sid died in 2024. The 2026 Hall of Fame will induct him posthumously in the Legacy Wing. Ross and many others believe Sid’s career and contributions clearly earned him a spot among the company’s greats.
2026 Hall of Fame Class
The 2026 WWE Hall of Fame class includes several names across different categories. Sid will be inducted in the Legacy Wing alongside another late star, Bad News Brown. Other inductees announced for the class are Stephanie McMahon, AJ Styles, and the tag team Demolition.
Dennis Rodman will be part of the Celebrity Wing. The Hall of Fame ceremony will also include an Immortal Moment feature. Last year’s Immortal Moment honored the Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin match. This year’s Immortal Moment will spotlight the WrestleMania 3 clash between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant.
What Fans Can Expect
Fans will watch the 2026 ceremony to see how the Legacy Wing honors past stars like Sid and Bad News Brown. Many hope the event will balance celebration and remembrance, giving proper tribute to wrestlers who helped shape the industry.
Jim Ross’s comments add context to why some inductions happen later than expected. For many fans and colleagues, Sid’s induction is overdue, but it is still an important recognition of his career and legacy.
