Kevin Nash says WWE wrestlers like working for Paul Levesque, known as Triple H, because he treats them differently than Vince McMahon. Nash praised Triple H’s work since taking a top creative role at the company.
Triple H’s role behind the scenes
Triple H moved from a senior executive job focused on NXT, talent and live events to head of creative and chief content officer in 2022. That change put him in charge of the company’s creative direction.
Nash, a Hall of Famer and friend of Triple H, said on his podcast that Triple H is not only the creative boss but also acts like a coach. He said Triple H has a room full of writers and works with them, rather than simply ordering people around.
“Paul is in charge of creative, but people don’t understand that Paul’s also the f**king coach,” Nash said. “There’s no way Paul is going to dictate ’cause he’s never been that way. He’s always been a darling for the guys in the locker room…They like working for him ’cause he’s not Vince.”
He gave the quote on the podcast “Kliq This: The Kevin Nash Podcast”.
Big business moves under Triple H
Since Triple H took on the creative role, WWE has made several major moves. The company has expanded its global promotions and made new partnerships with other wrestling groups.
WWE announced a multi-year partnership with a former rival promotion, TNA. The company also bought Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide last April. These deals are part of a push to grow WWE’s global reach and bring new talent and shows to its fans.
Controversial and mixed decisions
Not every decision has been popular. WWE moved its premium live events in the United States from Peacock to ESPN. The move led to legal and fan reaction. WWE also kept working with partners in Saudi Arabia, which has drawn criticism at times.
Those choices involve company leaders beyond creative, but they affect how fans and wrestlers view WWE as a whole.
WrestleMania and the immediate challenge
One of Triple H’s current tasks is filling seats at WrestleMania 42. The event runs Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Triple H is focused on the show’s creative and on making sure fans want to come. Nash suggested that Triple H’s locker-room style and collaborative approach help the company as it prepares for big events like WrestleMania.
