Kyle Fletcher left Saturday’s AEW Collision taping in Cedar Rapids wearing a walking boot after a tag team match. He finished the match but appeared to favor his left leg and was checked by medical staff at ringside.
Match and Reported Injury
Fletcher teamed with Mark Davis to face Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz on AEW Collision. The Don Callis Family duo scored the win when Davis planted Xavier with a sit-out piledriver.
After the bout, reporter Bryan Alvarez wrote that “Kyle Fletcher left the show tonight in a walking boot” and added that the injury appeared to be legitimate. The exact nature and severity of the injury have not been confirmed.
What happened in the ring
Early in the tag match, Fletcher and Davis drove Wentz and Xavier into each other and followed with a pair of suplexes. As Fletcher landed from those suplexes, his knee awkwardly hit Davis’ back, and Fletcher immediately rolled out of the ring. AEW medical staff checked on him at ringside.
Fletcher later returned to finish the match, but he moved noticeably slower and seemed to favor his left leg. It is not clear whether that suplex spot caused the issue or if the problem happened earlier in the match.
TNT Title and Recent Defenses
Fletcher is the current AEW TNT Champion. He won the title from Tommaso Ciampa last month. Since winning, Fletcher has successfully defended the TNT title against Mark Briscoe, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, and Robbie Eagles.
At this time, there is no official word on how long Fletcher might be out of in-ring action or whether he will miss any upcoming title defenses. AEW has not released medical updates.
