Maya World is now an official member of All Elite Wrestling. The young wrestler said the moment felt like proof that her hard work is paying off.
AEW signing and background
AEW announced in late 2025 that Hyan and Maya World had joined the company after a run of tag team matches. For World, the move is a return to familiar faces. She will share the AEW-ROH women’s locker room with Athena, her former coach.
The night she got the call
World remembers where she was when AEW offered the contract. “I remember I was driving back from Houston to Austin where I was at the time. It was like 2am, and we were asked to be back the next week,” she told Denise Salcedo.
World said AEW told her team they were being offered contracts, and she pulled over on the side of the road when the news sank in. She tried to reach Athena first and then called Billie Starkz, Athena’s on-screen protege.
“I just cried,” World said. “I called my coach first, Athena, of course, because she’s been with me through everything, my first match on Ring of Honor ever back in 2023 was with her. I called her first and I cried and I told her. She was just giving me all this advice business-wise. It felt like all my hard work paying off. I didn’t think it’d be this soon, but thank God it was.”

In-ring activity since signing
Since joining AEW-ROH, World has continued to team with Hyan. Hyan is described as a veteran in the ring, and the pair have kept competing together after the signing announcement.
World has also stepped into singles competition. She has challenged Athena for the ROH Women’s Championship in a singles match, continuing a personal and professional storyline that stretches back to her first ROH match in 2023 when she teamed with Athena.
Where things stand now
Maya World says the signing felt like validation of years of work. The team-up with Hyan and the challenge to Athena show AEW sees her as both a tag team and singles competitor.
