Rob Van Dam spoke about Sid Eudy’s short run in ECW after news broke that Eudy will be part of the WWE Hall of Fame’s Legacy wing. RVD praised Eudy’s look and presence and shared memories of a planned match that never happened.
RVD on Sid’s time in ECW
Rob Van Dam said he was happy Sid Eudy worked in ECW. He said Eudy made the company look better and gave ECW credibility. “I was just happy that Sid was in our company,” RVD said. “I thought that it gave us a lot of credibility. I thought he was a great monster heel. He looked great. I was a fan and I thought he was really good for ECW.”
Eudy wrestled only a handful of matches for ECW in the first half of 1999. After that short run, he returned to another company for a time. RVD did not have matches with Eudy during those ECW shows, but he remembers the impact of Eudy’s presence on the roster.

RVD talked about Eudy during a YouTube livestream. He shared his thoughts about Eudy as a wrestler and a character. Below is the clip of RVD speaking about Sid.
Missed match and personal memories
RVD also remembered a planned independent show in the United Kingdom where he and Eudy were scheduled to fight each other. The match never happened. RVD said he was excited for the bout and thought they could have had a great match. “I was thinking I could have a great match with him,” he said. “I was really looking forward to it, but he wasn’t. And I was trying to talk him into looking forward to it, and he was saying on the bus, ‘I don’t know, man. I don’t know if I’m in shape to go with you.’ He was intimidated to actually wrestle me, or thought that wrestling me, I was gonna have to have tables, ladders, and chairs, … which is ridiculous.”
RVD also said he believes the two of them once smoked marijuana together. He spoke about these memories in a casual way, showing respect for Eudy as both a performer and a person.
Legacy and Hall of Fame
Sid Eudy, also known as Sycho Sid and Sid Justice, died in 2024 at age 63 after a battle with cancer. This year he will be honored as part of the WWE Hall of Fame’s 2026 class in the Legacy wing. The class also includes other well-known names who will be part of the ceremony.
RVD’s comments highlight how a short run by a veteran star can raise the profile of a smaller company. For many fans and wrestlers, Eudy’s size and intensity left a lasting mark on the business.
