Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe will return to WrestleMania week with a new Netflix special called KILL TONY: WrestleMania. The event will be filmed in Las Vegas and air on Netflix two days later.
What WWE and Hinchcliffe announced
WWE and Tony Hinchcliffe announced a special episode of his podcast, KILL TONY, titled KILL TONY: WrestleMania. The show will be filmed on Saturday, April 18 at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas. It is scheduled to air on Netflix on Monday, April 20.
WWE is promoting the special as a “double event” alongside that night’s episode of WWE Raw. The company has not released a list of performers or a full running order yet.
Guests and lineup
WWE said the special will include WWE Superstars, WWE Legends, established comedians, and surprise celebrity guests. No specific names have been announced. The promotion is keeping the lineup secret while teasing a loaded cast.
How this show will work
Unlike last year’s WrestleMania roast, this special will follow the normal KILL TONY podcast format. Guests will try their own short comedy sets. Hinchcliffe and his panel will then give feedback, often in a sharp, comedic style.
WWE has worked with Hinchcliffe since last year’s roast controversy and is continuing the partnership with this new event.
Last year’s controversy
Last year’s Roast of WrestleMania was a polarizing moment. The roast did not air on any official platform, but leaked audio later drew criticism. The leaked material included jokes by Paul Heyman and by Nia Jax, who directed several lines at fellow performer Charlotte Flair.
That backlash did not end WWE’s work with Hinchcliffe. The company has decided to bring him back for another WrestleMania weekend show, but this time in his own KILL TONY format rather than a formal roast.
As more details become available, WWE is expected to name performers and release ticket information for the Dolby Live taping. For now, fans can mark April 18 for the live recording and April 20 for the Netflix release.
