Max Holloway says he wants a big rematch with Conor McGregor. People now think that fight could happen at UFC 330 on July 11 during International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
Holloway wants the rematch
Holloway recently lost the symbolic “BMF” title and said he wants to get a win back over McGregor. The two first fought in 2013, when McGregor won on the scorecards early in both men’s careers.
On his YouTube channel, Holloway said, “Conor’s there, Conor got one over me. He’s talking about coming back. I’m coming off a loss. It would look pretty fun to get that one back with him.”
Weight is one clear issue. McGregor now prefers 170 pounds (welterweight), while Holloway has fought at 155 pounds (lightweight). Holloway said he would not mind moving up to make the fight happen. “If he doesn’t want to cut weight then I don’t want to cut weight. We can do it at any weight to be honest. It’s just about getting it back,” he said.
Insider says talks are real — UFC 330 is the target
Journalist Ariel Helwani said on his show that he believes the fight talks are real. Helwani called Holloway very calculated and said Holloway would not talk like this unless things were moving behind the scenes.
Helwani also said the UFC is pushing to get Conor McGregor on the UFC 330 card on July 11 in Las Vegas. He added that with Nate Diaz out, and with other matchups shifting, the UFC may see a Holloway vs. McGregor fight as a big draw for International Fight Week.
The UFC needs Conor McGregor now more than ever, and they have to do everything in their power to make his return happen. It appears everything is trending in the right direction.
At this point, I think it’s safe to say it would be disastrous situation, something disastrous would have had to have happened if he was not fighting on Jul. 11.

What could block the fight?
Beyond weight, the UFC must agree on the timing and the terms. Helwani suggested Charles Oliveira is not getting the McGregor fight after the recent BMF title situation, and that the promotion may need a big name now, especially with other events drawing attention. Holloway said he will let the UFC decide which direction to take.
There are also outside pressures. Helwani mentioned the UFC is responding to criticism about another card and to new competition from a Netflix Rousey vs. Carano event. All of this could make the UFC eager to make a big return fight for McGregor.
