The March 20, 2026 episode of WWE SmackDown showed signs of recovery. Viewership rose slightly, and live ticket sales in Raleigh were the best the company has seen in the market since 2021.
SmackDown’s Weekly Numbers
The show averaged 1,439,000 viewers and posted a 0.32 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. Total viewers were up about 1% from the previous week, while the 18-49 rating held steady.
SmackDown ranked sixth on cable for the night in the 18-49 demo. The program faced tough competition from multiple college basketball games during March Madness, which aired at the same time.
Early-Year Struggles and Recent Bounce Back
SmackDown struggled at the start of the year. It had several episodes with fewer than one million viewers in January. Since the Royal Rumble and the start of WrestleMania season, the blue brand has slowly begun to recover. Last Friday’s show was the second-highest viewership for SmackDown so far in 2026.
With WrestleMania 42 less than a month away, the show will be watching to see if it can keep building momentum and reach 1.5 million viewers for the first time this year.
Ticket Sales and Local Interest
Live interest improved alongside TV numbers. The March 20 show sold 12,961 seats at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. That is the most tickets sold for a WWE event in Raleigh since 2021, showing stronger local support for the brand.
Year-over-Year Picture
Despite recent gains, SmackDown remains below last year’s levels. Total viewership is down about 12% compared with March 2025. The key 18-49 demographic shows a larger decline, down roughly 35% year over year.
These declines underline a continued challenge for the show: turning short-term gains during WrestleMania season into steady, long-term growth. The coming weeks and the run into WrestleMania will be important to measure whether the upward trend can continue.
