One of the most talked-about matches heading to WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas is a non-title bout between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar. The match has fans wondering if it could become one of the biggest moments of the weekend.
How the Match Came Together
Brock Lesnar issued an open challenge on WWE Raw in the weeks before WrestleMania 42. Oba Femi answered that challenge on Raw when he hit Lesnar with a Fall From Grace powerbomb, put his foot on Lesnar’s chest, and pointed to the WrestleMania sign.
Oba Femi is a new call-up from NXT. WWE has presented him as a big star and given him a strong TV moment against one of the company’s top names. WWE has not officially confirmed what matches will take place on each night of WrestleMania 42.
Bully Ray’s Take
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray spoke about the match on Busted Open Radio. He said WWE has done a good job building the moment and that he is as excited for Lesnar vs. Femi as he is for the title matches on the card.
He praised Femi’s look and presentation as a major new star. Bully Ray said, “Oba Femi is a brand new talent called up from ‘NXT.’ Looks the part. Presented as big of a star as anybody else on the roster right now. ‘The Ruler,’ not afraid to get face-to-face with ‘The Beast.'”
On Brock Lesnar, Bully Ray did not hold back: “Brock Lesnar is the baddest mother f***** in the WWE, end of story.” He also described the Raw moment: “Last week we saw Oba Femi sit down powerbomb Brock Lesnar. We all gasped. Wow. Brock got manhandled. Manhandled by Oba Femi. Not only did Oba Femi get Brock up for the powerbomb, he held him up for the powerbomb and then dropped him when he felt like dropping him.”
Big Matches on the Card
The advertised main events for WrestleMania 42 include Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defending against Randy Orton, and World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk facing Roman Reigns. Those title matches are the headliners, but the build for Lesnar vs. Femi has added extra buzz for the show in Las Vegas.
Fans will be watching to see if WWE keeps Oba Femi on this fast track and how much of WrestleMania’s spotlight the Lesnar match will take.
