AEW’s Jeff Jarrett says John Cena should come out of retirement for a few matches each year. Jarrett wants Cena to be seen in the ring again, even if only for short runs.
Jarrett’s Call for Cena to Return
On his “My World” podcast, Jeff Jarrett asked John Cena to “unretire” and wrestle a handful of dates each year. Jarrett said the business is better when Cena is part of it. He suggested Cena could work two to four matches annually, similar to how some big names appear only a few times a year.
How Cena Could Be Used
Jarrett believes Cena could help WWE in many ways. He said Cena does not have to be a full-time wrestler to be valuable. He could appear in key matches, special events, or on television in roles that fit his schedule.
Jarrett used the example of Hulk Hogan to show that top stars can still draw fans even past age 50. He argued that Cena’s name alone brings attention and interest. Jarrett said there is no gray area about Cena’s value: he improves the business no matter what role he takes.
Money and Negotiations
Jarrett says the main question is money. He pointed to WWE’s owner, TKO, as the decision maker. Jarrett thinks the talks will come down to what TKO will pay and what Cena will accept. He said that whoever controls the budget will decide how often Cena can appear.
Jarrett made a direct comparison to Brock Lesnar, who works just a few times a year. He suggested Cena could follow a similar schedule. If WWE wants Cena back in the ring for two to four matches a year, Jarrett thinks it could be done if both sides agree on terms.
Cena’s Own Statement
Despite Jarrett’s suggestion, John Cena has publicly ruled out a return to the ring. Cena recently said he will remain part of the WWE family, but not as an active wrestler. He has described his in-ring career as over and indicated he plans to do other things for the company.
Jarrett remains hopeful. He said he would like to see Cena unretire and try a limited match schedule. But for now, the idea depends on Cena’s willingness and what WWE’s owners decide to offer.
