AEW has locked in one of its fastest rising stars. Thekla has signed a new multi-year deal with the promotion after a strong run as AEW Women’s World Champion.
Contract Signed
Reporter Sean Ross Sapp confirmed that Thekla agreed to a multi-year contract with AEW. The exact length of the deal was not revealed. AEW reportedly offered the new deal while Thekla still had more than a year left on her previous contract.
Thekla used representation to complete the agreement. Company officials were impressed enough with her arrival and in-ring work that they moved quickly to secure her long term.
Rise to Champion
Thekla arrived from Japan last summer and quickly made an impact. The 32-year-old, known as the Toxic Spider, won the AEW Women’s World Championship sooner than many expected. Her style and presence in the ring helped her stand out among AEW’s women’s division.
She has scored notable victories over top names as she climbed the ranks. Those wins helped set up her title run and led AEW to position her as a top champion.
Recent Title Defenses
Thekla has defended the AEW Women’s World Championship on big shows. Earlier this month she retained the title in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls match against Kris Statlander at AEW Revolution. She also defended the belt on AEW Dynamite against Mina Shirakawa, where she used brass knuckles to secure the win.
| Fighter | Recent Result |
|---|---|
| Thekla | Retained AEW Women’s World Championship (Best Two Out Of Three Falls vs Kris Statlander; defended on Dynamite vs Mina Shirakawa) |
| Kris Statlander | Lost Best Two Out Of Three Falls match for the title at AEW Revolution |
| Mina Shirakawa | Lost title match on AEW Dynamite (defeat due to use of brass knuckles) |

Looking Ahead
Thekla will aim to extend her run as champion. She is currently seven days away from reaching 50 days with the title, a milestone she should pass next week if she remains champion.
With a new multi-year deal in place and recent high-profile defenses, AEW appears committed to keeping Thekla in a top spot on its women’s roster. Fans can expect to see her featured on upcoming shows as the company builds more challengers around the champion.
