Swerve Strickland says a match in London helped make him a top star in AEW. He looks back at a feud that involved Darby Allin and the legend Sting as a key moment in his career.
Big moment at Wembley
Strickland spoke about the run during a recent interview. He called the match at AEW All In: London 2023 one of the biggest highlights of his career. The bout took place at Wembley Stadium in London and saw fans react strongly to his “Whose House?” chant.
He said the crowd response made the moment feel surreal and that the night helped “cement” him as one of AEW’s top, long-term talents.
Main event at AEW All In 2024
After the London event, Strickland moved into even bigger spots. At AEW All In 2024, he wrestled in the main event for the AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson.
Strickland lost that title match to Danielson. The victory gave the veteran a major title run, and it was a high point on a very busy year for Strickland.
Strickland on history and the future
Strickland said the 2024 run was huge for him. He also noted the historical side of main eventing Wembley, saying he believes he made history as a Black man in pro wrestling by being the first Black wrestler to main event a wrestling show at Wembley.
He called 2024 one of the biggest years of his life and said he wanted to make the most of every opportunity that came his way.
