Veteran wrestler Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) shared his view on two famous WWE groups and compared Sami Zayn’s place in The Bloodline to Owen Hart’s role in the Nation of Domination.
MVP’s choice: Nation of Domination
On his podcast, MVP was asked which faction had the bigger impact: the Nation of Domination or The Bloodline. He picked the Nation of Domination. MVP said NoD helped shape the look and feel of its era and left a strong legacy.
He explained that some stables are tied to a moment in time, while others set a long-lasting standard. For MVP, the Nation of Domination fits the latter group.
Comparing Sami Zayn to Owen Hart
MVP pointed out one clear similarity between the two groups: the role played by Sami Zayn in The Bloodline is similar to the role Owen Hart had in the Nation of Domination. “Sami Zayn is just the Owen Hart,” MVP said. He added, “Sami Zayn is dope though. I got so much respect for Sami.”
Owen Hart spent about four months with the Nation of Domination in 1998. During that time he acted as a co-heel leader. He helped move NoD from a strict, militant image to a cooler, more dominant group. Owen worked as a mentor and a steady voice inside the stable.
Sami Zayn earned the nickname “Honorary Uce” despite not being part of the Anoa’i family. He often steps in to protect the group’s leader, Roman Reigns, and take hits for the team. Zayn also brings humor and human moments to the faction. MVP sees Zayn as the shield and the voice of reason, much like Owen was for NoD.
Why the comparison matters
The comparison highlights a common idea in wrestling stables: some members are the muscle and showmen, while others guide the group and keep it grounded. Both Owen Hart and Sami Zayn played that supporting, stabilizing role for their teams. They helped shape the group’s story and added depth to the main stars.
MVP’s words show respect for Zayn’s work inside The Bloodline. He praised Zayn for taking on the tough, sometimes thankless tasks that help a faction succeed on a bigger stage.
