Willie Mack has clarified his contract status with AEW after a series of unhappy tweets. New details show he is still tied to the company but not on a regular salary.
Contract status
Sources say Mack is on a “tier zero” deal with AEW. That means he is not on a full-time salary. Instead, he is paid for each appearance he makes.
Mack first joined AEW on a tier zero deal about three years ago. He was later moved to a full-time contract within the last two years. At some point after that, he returned to a tier zero arrangement. No reason has been given for the change.
Recent activity and communication
Mack posted several tweets this week that made clear he is unhappy with how AEW has used him. The messages highlighted his frustration over limited bookings and placement.
AEW sources confirm the promotion has been in contact with Mack. The reports do not say whether those conversations happened before or after his social media comments.
Fight activity also reflects the limited AEW use. Mack had very few AEW and ROH appearances in 2025 and has not appeared for either promotion so far in 2026.
Independent work and upcoming dates
Being on a tier zero deal does not stop Mack from working elsewhere. He remains active on the independent scene.
He still wrestles regularly for Juggalo Championship Wrestling. There he is one half of the JCW Tag Team Champions with partner 2 Tuff Tony.
Mack has also picked up bookings for WrestleMania weekend. He is slated to appear at Dragon Gate’s “The Gate of Sin City” event on April 15.
What this means
Under a tier zero deal, Mack can take independent dates while being available to AEW for specific shows. That setup explains why he can remain a tag champion in JCW and also accept appearances during big weekends like WrestleMania.
There is no public word yet on whether AEW plans to change his contract again or move him back to regular weekly use. For now, Mack is under a per-appearance agreement and is pursuing independent bookings.
