Jake Paul and Nate Diaz could meet again soon, this time in an MMA cage, on a Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) event shown on Netflix, MVP co‑founder Nakisa Bidarian said in a recent interview.
Rematch talk and background
Paul beat Diaz by unanimous decision in their 2023 boxing match. Since then, both men have publicly talked about fighting in mixed martial arts. Bidarian said both fighters remain interested in an MMA rematch.
Bidarian recalled that the Professional Fighters League (PFL) once tried to make the MMA fight happen. Negotiations fell apart because the money on the table did not meet Diaz’s demands, Bidarian said.
Netflix, MVP and recent events
Netflix has begun showing big combat sports cards produced by MVP. The first Netflix/MVP boxing event mentioned was Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson in November 2024. That show was estimated to have drawn about 125 million viewers.
Other big fights shown by Netflix and MVP include Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 and Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford. Netflix is also set to debut an MMA card headlined by Ronda Rousey’s comeback fight against Gina Carano.
Bidarian said the Rousey vs. Carano card could be the start of more MMA events on Netflix, following a similar path to how Netflix added big boxing spectacles first and then grew its roster of events.
Possible path to the cage and upcoming fights
Bidarian said Nate Diaz has publicly called out Jake Paul for an MMA fight. Paul has suggested the route: beat Mike Perry on the upcoming Netflix card and then discuss running the Diaz fight as an MVP MMA event.
Diaz is scheduled to fight Mike Perry on the upcoming Netflix card. If Diaz and Paul both win and stay interested, MVP and Netflix could push for the cage rematch, Bidarian said.
Bidarian also noted the wider MMA scene is open outside the UFC, which could give MVP space to build its own cards. Diaz was also once considered as a late replacement opponent for Paul’s Netflix boxing match with Anthony Joshua after Gervonta Davis withdrew, but that rematch did not happen.
