Jiri Prochazka spoke plainly this week about Conor McGregor’s possible return to the UFC. The former light heavyweight champion says any comeback must be proven in the cage.
Prochazka’s view on McGregor
On a recent appearance on Adin Ross’ livestream on Kick, Prochazka gave a blunt take on McGregor. “I really liked to watch Conor McGregor when he believed in himself, and he was in the right mood,” he said. He added that the burden is on McGregor to show he still belongs at the top level: “Who knows? He has to prove that. He has to show that.”
Prochazka stressed that MMA needs total commitment. “In this game, there’s one rule. You are on top, burning, firing, and you can shine, or stay back. That’s the rule,” he said.
UFC 327: Prochazka returns for vacant title
Prochazka is set to return at UFC 327. He will face Carlos Ulberg for the vacant light heavyweight title. This fight marks Prochazka’s return to action and gives him a chance to reclaim gold in the division.
Prochazka built his career on strong discipline and an all-in mindset. He now faces Ulberg with the title on the line. Both men will be under pressure to perform on fight night.
Where McGregor stands
Conor McGregor has not fought since UFC 264 in July 2021. He broke his leg in the trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier. McGregor had been scheduled to return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024, but he withdrew due to injury.
Talk of a McGregor comeback has picked up again. Prochazka’s message to McGregor is simple: if he wants to return to the top, he must prove it inside the cage.
