Paulo Costa and Josh Hokit traded heated messages online after UFC 327 when Hokit walked away with performance bonuses that Costa expected to get.
What happened at UFC 327
At UFC 327 on Saturday night, Paulo Costa scored a head-kick TKO over Azamat Murzakanov. Costa thought that finish would earn him a $100,000 performance bonus.
On the same card, Josh Hokit fought a wild back-and-forth brawl with Curtis Blaydes. That fight won Fight of the Night honors. Hokit also received a performance bonus, giving him a total of $200,000 in bonuses from the event.
The online exchange
After the event, Costa took to X to call out Hokit for taking the bonus. Costa wrote that Hokit “got my BONUS” and used strong language saying he would fight Hokit next time. Hokit answered with a taunt about body shape and his “Incredible Hok Juice.” Costa continued the back-and-forth, writing that Hokit owed him $100k and calling for a real fight.
The exchange escalated into a proposed matchup. Costa suggested a Costa vs Hokit BMF-style fight with “no weight limit” and “winner takes all.” Hokit replied with another short, heated message.
What’s next for both fighters
Costa said he has one fight left on his current UFC contract. He added that his win over Murzakanov, done up at 205 pounds, could put him in line for a title run. In an interview he told UFCcoverage that he thinks he may be in position to fight for the belt.
Hokit already has a high-profile matchup lined up. After UFC 327 he agreed to fight Derrick Lewis as a late addition to the UFC: White House event on June 14th.
