Carlos Ulberg has started physical therapy at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas after recent ACL surgery. The new light-heavyweight champion says his recovery is already moving faster than expected.
Ulberg begins rehab at the PI
Ulberg underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL and checked into the UFC Performance Institute to begin rehab. It has been about a week since the operation. Doctors and the PI staff told him the body is healing well and they are pleased with his early progress.
In a video on UFCcoverage, Ulberg said the team went into surgery expecting a six- to eight-month recovery window, or longer in some cases. But he added the early signs are positive and the team is happy with how things are going so far.
Recovery timeline and work plan
Ulberg said the plan is aggressive but careful. The staff has him doing rehab sessions twice a day. He praised the PI staff and the doctors for the quick start and said they are on top of his treatment plan.
He also stressed that the body is healing fast and that the team has found a good formula for rehab. Ulberg and his staff continue to monitor progress day by day as he moves through the early stages of recovery.
Title status and outlook
There had been concern that Ulberg might have to vacate the light-heavyweight title if he faced a long layoff. For now, he remains the champion. Ulberg said he is encouraged by the early pace of rehab and is focused on returning to full health.
He noted the surgery was handled quickly and that starting rehab promptly was an important part of the plan. Ulberg sounded optimistic that the combination of surgery, medical care, and focused rehabilitation will give him the best chance to recover well.
Rehab updates and social posts
Ulberg has shared short video clips showing basic leg movement exercises as he begins the road to recovery. He posted a clip on X to update fans and show parts of his rehab routine.
