Jake Paul faced comedian Theo Von over an old social media post that accused Paul of fixing fights during an April 5 appearance on Von’s “This Past Weekend” podcast. The exchange grew awkward as Von apologized and deleted the tweet live on the show.
Podcast confrontation
The discussion began when Paul said he is ready to take legal action against people who accuse him of fixing fights or using steroids. Von reacted immediately, saying he needed to remove an old tweet. The post then appeared on the podcast screen.
The tweet and the apology
The tweet came from a back-and-forth on X between Von and Logan Paul. It read: “I don’t work for free either long dog. At least pay me to take a fall. Ain’t that how y’all operate.” Paul pointed to the line and said he was briefly angry when he first saw it.
Von told Paul he would not have said that to his face and admitted he likely joined a bandwagon of critics. The comedian said sorry on air and asked Paul not to sue, then deleted the tweet during the two-hour conversation.
Paul’s reaction and the larger narrative
Paul treated the accusation seriously but also laughed at parts of the exchange. He told Von it was fine and said he appreciated the honesty. The topic is sensitive for Paul, who has faced repeated questions about some of his fights from people in boxing and MMA.
Recently, veteran boxer Terence Crawford questioned a few of Paul’s bouts, echoing similar public doubts. Those comments are part of a wider narrative that follows Paul as he moves into MMA and high-profile boxing matches.
