Max Holloway Responds to Conor McGregor UFC 329 Rumor

Max Holloway has reacted to recent talk that he could face Conor McGregor. The possible fight has fans excited, but Holloway says there has been no official contact yet.

Industry reporter Ariel Helwani suggested that Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway could happen at UFC 329 on July 11. Holloway, known as “Blessed,” told UFCcoverage he has seen the same talk as everyone else but has not heard from UFC officials.

“Maybe, we’ll see what happens,” Holloway said to UFCcoverage. “I’m seeing all the talk that you guys see. I really didn’t hear anything yet but that wouldn’t be a bad time.”

Holloway added that he is open to the match and believes the timing could work well for him.

History between the fighters

Holloway and McGregor have history. They fought early in their UFC careers in 2013, and Holloway lost that decision. He said he would like a chance to even the score.

“I mean we have history,” Holloway told UFCcoverage. “We fought a very long time ago. I told you guys, if somebody’s got one over me, I want to get him back. I’d love to get him back.”

Holloway made it clear that getting revenge is personal. He said he wants to “get one back” on fighters who have beaten him and hopes to keep climbing that list.

Where things stand now

Holloway said he has not been contacted by UFC about the rumored bout. He noted that Conor McGregor looks hungry and serious about a return to fighting. Holloway mentioned McGregor recently took part in a boxing exhibition, which showed he is active.

Holloway also referenced his own recent loss without giving details, saying, “You’re only as good as your last fight they say, and we’re going to get everybody forgetting about that last fight as soon as possible.”
