The Usos have been one of WWE’s main acts since 2020. Once stars in their own right, the twins now feel unstable on TV because they keep changing sides and following Roman Reigns.
Flip-flops and mixed storylines
Since joining Roman Reigns’ Bloodline in 2020, Jimmy and Jey Uso have switched loyalties many times. They have been top tag team champions, worked as singles stars, and feuded with Reigns. Fans have seen betrayals, reunions, and short solo pushes.
For example, Jey first feuded with Reigns in 2020. Later he stayed loyal, then left, then returned again. Jimmy also rejected Reigns at times, then followed him, then betrayed Jey, and then rejoined the group. This long list of changes makes their characters hard to follow. It also makes them look like they lack confidence and backbone.
Reigns’ control and quick forgiveness
Roman Reigns’ Tribal Chief character has often controlled the Usos’ story. At times the storytelling around this was strong, with good promos and feuds. But when Reigns reunites with them, he rarely apologizes for past mistreatment. The Usos usually forgive him quickly and fall back in line.
After a Bloodline reunion in 2024, Jey got a big push. He won the Royal Rumble and the World Heavyweight Title, rising as a singles star thanks to strong fan support. Yet in 2026 he and Jimmy returned to Reigns’ side. The ease of that turnaround moved from believable drama to frustration for many viewers.
A clearer path: Usos as a standalone heel team
The simplest fix is to let the Usos stand on their own again. They have shined as tough heels before. Their 2016 heel run helped build them, and their tag title run while part of the Bloodline was also very strong.
As heels, the Usos can carry the tag division and face teams like Street Profits or Lucha Bros. They do not need to live in Reigns’ shadow. A clean break and a firm, consistent direction would give them a clear identity and bring back respect from fans.
What fans should expect
If WWE wants the Usos to matter again, writers must choose one path and stick with it. Either give them a long-term singles story, or return them to a nasty, focused tag-team heel run. Constant flips and easy reunions with Reigns will keep them from reaching their full potential.
